How to Connect APM and Vista Touch via 4G for Remote Access

Setting up your Trumeter APM Gateway or Vista Touch with a 4G router is quick and easy. While there are many options on the market, we recommend the Teltonika RUT241 for its reliability and hassle-free setup.

Getting Started

  1. Purchase a 4G Router: Purchase a suitable industrial 4G router. The Teltonika RUT241 is our recommendation due to its ease of use and robust design.

  1. Choose a Location and SIM Card: Identify a mounting location for the router that has reliable 4G network coverage. You can use your mobile phone to check for signal strength from different network providers in the area. Purchase a data-enabled SIM card from the provider with the strongest signal and insert it into the router.

  1. Assemble and Power the Router: Attach the included cellular reception antenna(s) to the router. Once assembled, connect the power supply and turn it on. The router will automatically boot up and connect to the cellular network.

  1. Connect Your Trumeter Device: Using a standard Ethernet cable, connect your APM Gateway or Vista Touch to one of the WAN ports on the 4G router.

Dont Forget to Claim Your Gateway on Trumeter Cloud

In most cases, the installation is complete. Once connected to the 4G network, your device will be online and ready to communicate with cloud.trumeter.com. Log in and follow the usual steps to claim your device and begin remote monitoring.

One of the primary reasons we recommend the Teltonika RUT241 is that it requires no additional network configuration. As long as the router has a SIM card with an active data plan and is within cellular range, it handles the connection automatically. This means less time spent troubleshooting and more time monitoring your critical systems.
