Convert a Mechanical Counter to Electronic for Length Measurement

Our length measurement devices come standard with mechanical counter, but the 2630, 2600, and 3905 series can be converted to electronic counters if needed for your application. Applications that require electronic counters commonly include:

• Applications requiring meter presets. For example, set a first preset to slow the machine down, then when the second preset is reached, use the output of the meter to control a cutter or stop a machine.
• Applications requiring auto reset for continuous production. For example, use a preset value to actuate a cutter, then use Auto Reset to start the counter from zero after cutting.

To convert the counter, we remove the mechanical counter and install a shaft encoder to the wheel shaft. This can interface with one of our digital panel displays, including:

• 7922/7932
• 9100
• 8981-1

All of these products convert the pulses the encoder outputs and then use the scaling feature to give a readout in feet/tenths, yards/tenths, or meters/tenths.
